Joshua Benjamin Jeyaretnam was the first opposition party candidate to be elected as a Member of Parliament in 1981. He represented Workers’ Party in the Anson 1981 by-election and defeated Pang Kim Him who was the representative of PAP. He was known for his fiery parliamentary speeches and his determination to put up a good fight for what he believed in. I have found some online links here about him, which I will share it here today on the first anniversary of his passing.
