‘Pad’ on the back for CNB
TWO more Malaysian women have been caught trying to smuggle drugs into Singapore by concealing them in sanitary pads in their underwear.
This is the third time in three days the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has busted women smugglers concealing drugs in their undergarments.
Some 1.6kg of heroin and 254gm of Ice with a street value of S$307,000 (RM749,000) were seized at the Woodlands checkpoint in the latest operation on Saturday.
The women were being driven in a pirate taxi with Malaysian licence plates when they were stopped at the checkpoint’s car arrival bay.
A search of the first woman, aged 23, turned up two bundles of heroin – 924gm of it – hidden between two sanitary pads in her underwear. She was wearing two pairs of underwear and two pairs of tights.
When the second woman, aged 28, was searched, drug officers found 702gm of heroin and 254gm of Ice in four bundles, concealed in three sanitary pads in her underwear. She was also wearing two pairs of tights.
The women’s 60-year-old driver is assisting the CNB in investigations.
Last Thursday, a Malaysian woman was caught trying to smuggle 960gm of heroin in two bundles hidden between two sanitary pads in her underwear.
A day later, another Malaysian woman was caught with an assortment of drugs – including small amounts of Ice, cannabis and 20 Ecstasy tablets – in plastic bags secured to her underwear. — The Straits Times/Asia News Network
